For themselves. If everyone thought alike, their minds wouldnt be so great.

All minds are unique. Great minds may think alike in some respects, but in others they are independant. The world would be a very bland place if all great minds were exactly identical

I would say that "fools seldom differ".

Great minds usually come up with the right answers. So they would think independently but come to the same conclusions, thereby, "thinking alike."
