  • What's a tragus?
  • i have my tragus pierced they put a hoop in it. it does hurt more than most piercings. if your planing on piercing it yourself thats a very bad idea and will most likely get infected
  • The piercing it self doesn't hurt really as long as you go to a professional. It won't get infected as long as you follow the after care instructions given to you by your piercer. I got mine pierced the only time it hurt was after the piercing was done. But then again it's all about how much pain you can tolerate.
  • get a barbell. its less likely to get caught and it only hurts if the piercer does it slowly. you may hear a little pop but dont worry its only the needle going through. it shouldnt get infected as long as you clean it properly with 1 part salt to 10 part water and they look great
  • mine have rings in them but either will work. your piercer might have a preference. mine did not hurt but that's just me, everyone is different. as for infection, follow your aftercare instruction carefully and you should be ok.
  • having no experience here i cant really give you any advice...but i think the barbells look cooler :) i am also interested in getting mine pierced so please reply how it went for you!
  • you can have either a ring or a barbell put in at first, so long as your anatomy with support it. also, research your piercer and the shop you are going to. he/she should probably be using a curved hollow needle on a tragus, probably a 16ga at the smallest. because you are going through some cartilage, it will, for most people, hurt more than a standard lobe piercing. mine felt like a lobe piercing as it was being done, but i had more pain later and it took longer to heal. this is the nature of this sort of piercing. it will take longer to heal than a lobe and therefore needs more careful and longer lasting aftercare than a lobe. follow the aftercare instructions given to you by your piercer and you should be alright.
  • ur choice .. but i recommend u getting a barbell first cuz it wont hurt much wen they put the barbell in but i can imagine them putting a ring it and it looks painful so why don't u get a barbell first and wen it heals go to the professional piercer and get him/her change it for u .. its too risky to change it urself so yea thats wat i think. and to be honest wen they put the barbell in my tragus wen i got it firsted pierce, it killed .. SOrry but i gotta mention that =]
  • Initially, when you get pierced (at least with my experience) it throbs for a good 15 minutes or so, then afterward there's really only pain (until it heals which can be anywhere from 2 months to 6 typically) when it's bumped, the morning after you sleep on it, or if it's infected. If people tell you that their cartilage piercing healed in two weeks or something like that, their wrong, don't believe them unless they're descendants from superman because if they took their piercing out it would close up within a day or two. Some cartilage piercings take even up to a year to heal completely. I wouldn't think it would hurt when running (unless it's infected perhaps), it would possibly even be good for it because cartilage doesn't get a lot of blood flow, but running could get that flowing and maybe speed up healing. But I wouldn't count on it haha, that's only a guess.
  • I just got mine done recently I got a barbell and it didnt hurt too bad it just hurt when he had to screw on the balls after. it's sore and it hurts to clean it but it's bareable
  • I got my tragus ring about 4 months ago. The people that pierced it would only use a ring. If you have an option, I would recommend the barbell. i love the ring but it gets really sore if you sleep on it wrong. However the piercing didn't hurt. mine has never been infected and i am infection prone with piercings. I love my tragus ring and am looking forward to getting my other side done.
