Random Access Memory.....Read Only Memory
-
ROM = Read Only Memory RAM = Random Access Memory ROM is fixed, RAM is volatile.

RAM clears when you turn off the computer. ROM is saved.

ROM is read only memory. When a microprocessor starts, it goes to a particular address assigned by the type of microprocessor. The initial program runs from it, as in a PC, it's called BIOS or built in operating system. The RAM stores temporary memory which will be lost when power is shut down, or volatile memory. Some microcomputers will have EEROM or BATRAM which will retain memory when powered down. RAM addressing can be reassigned in some microprocessors by I/O mapping.
