  • Could you speak with a counselor or some other adult at school about how you feel? They could advise you on what you should do. Please don't feel like you have no one to share your feelings with ... I'm sure there is someone who can help. Good Luck!
  • Just go on your own. Refusing to provide you with needed medical treatment is a criminal offense. +5
  • She speaks a worn out cliche when she says they always blame the mother. Depression has a biological component and could be due to developmental issues nothing to do with parenting. Tell her there are very few Freudians practicing nowadays. Assuning she was not abusive toward you, she has nothing to worry about.
  • Your mom needs to put your health first. Some might consider her refusal as proof that indeed some of your depression is her fault. Either way it's a selfish reason to refuse you treatment.
  • That was a very popular technique done for years so your Mom may be right if that's all she's heard. Talk to her. Doctors now review the chemical side of things and may still put patients through exercises to help deal with situations - which may end up being a relationship with a parent. You need her support and the only way to get to her is through communication and helping her understand.
  • They did kinda blame mom in the past but now, if it's clinical depression, it's more about brain chemistry. However, I'm reading a book right now called Many Voices, Many Masters, that projects our emotional problems on some of the many lives we've had in the past. ??? Very different. The author was on Oprah awhile back and has medical degrees miles long.
  • You're going to want your mother's support on this. The reason is that some anti-depressants actually CAUSE suicidal feelings in some patients during initial periods. With you being fifteen, you're a prime candidate for being at risk. Also, if you're a highly sensitive person, (don't like crowds, love nature, feelings easily hurt, love music and arts, wish you weren't so sensitive etc.) then you have to really watch it because the drugs might not affect you the same.
