  • Yes! I wish someone was doing it! Let me explain. Voting for other people to speak for you is not Democracy,it's passing the buck and castration of personal power. The only real Democracy would be one in which all citizens are REQUIRED to have an active ongoing part in the decisionmaking process at every level. Not this sham mockery we have here in th U.S.(or anywhere else in the world).I'm afraid that so far, from the beginning of World History right up to the present,Democracy has been, and still is,just a word with no real meaning.
  • Democracy is the least evil form of government. it is not perfect in that it gives power to the majority (50% or more) to dominate, control and use what becomes minority.
  • Direct democracy is the best, where citizens actively participate in government. Representative democracy is second best; that's where you vote for other people to represent you and is the form we are most familiar with. Proportional representation is the best form of this style of democracy. Remember that democracy is by far the most expensive form of government.
  • I guess it depends on which government. Some government needs them and some should not have them. (No offense- I am all for freedom and choices)
  • Churchill said that democracy is the worst form of government there is, except for all the others.
  • No the best form of government is direct rule by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God's will is always righteous.
  • NO. Democracy in my opinion is even a homosexual/fememine(no offense to any one) form of government trying to govern the majority who are normal people with normal values.
  • Forms of Government Change. I think that it should not be the form of government we should be concerned about, but Christianity. Any government that allows degradation or persecution to Christianiy is a horrible government, regardless of its form. Life is to short to worship the things of the flesh(democracy), we should focus on wheter it preserves the Christian for Future generations.
  • This is a very broad question. Democracy extends past government, and stretches accross the whole of parliament. Depending on the system of voting used the results may either be majoratarian, where the winner is over compensated and the looser under awarder, or they may have an element of proportional representation within them. Many people consider PR to be a fairer system of election, as the results are more in proportion to the views of the country, however the system can lead to a fragmented political system, where bargains have to be made in order to form governement, hence it is difficult for manifesto promises to be delivered. I think that an indirect democratic system in a pluralistic country is the most prefurred style for selecting a government.
  • It's not only the best, it's the only one that's even remotely worth a damn.
  • I quite liked the ancient system in one of the city states around Greece where your elected representatives were assessed after a term. If judged to have performed well, they were lavishly rewarded. If judged to have performed poorly, they were put to the sword. (I also think it's a mistake to plan on the basis that allowing a popular 'vote' in Iraq or Afghanistan is going to bring about democratic rule in those societies.)
  • No it is not but it still is the best we have. Regards.
  • It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government, except all those other ones we've tried. In a perfect world (ie one not containing us, imperfect humans) then a socialist utopia would probably be the best.Everyone gets along, everyone gets their share as long as they pull their weight. No pride, gree, anger, nothing to stop society from running smoothly. Granted, in that world there's no incentive for science or creativity. But hey. You take the bad with the good.
  • the idea of it sounds pretty good?
  • "It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried." --Winston Churchill
  • In theory it is a great idea, but it has (in my opinion) never fully been in place - democracy to me means true choice, which is something that we lack... Still better than certain governments, but it still sucks...
  • No. I'm always amazed how many people think America is a democracy. It's meant to be a constitutional republic. In the words of Thomas Jefferson “A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.” Only a constitution protects the people from their government and prevents the electorate from being manipulated into voting away all their freedom.
