this is very difficult.even i fell maths the most difficult subject.fed up of it

It would be -15 because 2-5=-3 and that times 5 is -15

"5√2-5" is not a question, it is an expression. You could calculate this expression. "(5 * sqrt(2)) - 5 = 2.07106781" http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=5*sqrt(2)-5%3D&btnG=Search&aq=f&oq=&aqi=

* I meant how do you simplify it

If expressed like this: 5SQR2-5= (5)(1.414)-5= 7.071-5= 2.071. If expressed as 5SQR(2-5) the result is not a rational number, since it involves the square root of a negative quantity. +5

If it means sqrt(2-5) then you're going to have an imaginary answer, approximately 1.73205i. Multiply that by five and you have 8.66... If it's 5*sqrt(2)-5, then the answer would be 2.07. It's interesting that we end up with two numbers that are significant: 8.66, and 7.07 (before subtracting five). In the second case, it would be very easy to do with a calculator, so I don't know what the problem was. Someone mentioned simplifying, it can't be simplified.
