Being famous looks fun. Fame can lead to money. It's worth the risk to some people. Silly as hell if you ask me.

Some people have trouble accepting the wealth, fame and notoriety of others, who have worked hard to EARN that kind of recognition, so they go about seeking "instant fame" by doing some sort of lame-brained stunt to quickly get noticed, photographed, interviewed and placed on the front pages of newspapers and magazines, nationwide. They have seen others do it, so they wanna do it also, equating fame with wealth. The problem is, of course, that it is the "wrong" kind of fame and publicity, and that's kind of sad, really... Americans will long remember the name of Milwaukee Cannibal Jefferey Dahmer, but how many can mention the name of the person who invented the telephone "busy signal?" +5

Because they have the "look at me" mentality. Their self esteem is driven by the acknowledgment of others.
