  • They are, for all intents and purposes the same vehicle, but they are sold in different countries. The Surf is sold in Austrailia and as such has a number of differences from the 4 Runner which is sold in the United States. Perhaps the biggest difference is that the steering and pedals are located on the right side of the car, unlike the US where it is on the left. Also, the Surf seems to be offered in a diesel powered version, unlike the 4 Runner in the US.
  • In Australia the 4 RUNNER comes out in Diesel....I think we have some Petrol ones...My mate has a Hilux Surf and he says that the 4 RUNNER parts fit onto a Hilux Surf...Our cars in Australia are all Right Hand Drives. We have imports too like some rare American Cars that are still Left Hand Drives but they have to have a sticker saying Left Hand Drive on the back Bumper.
