  • I'm not sure of this, but I heard that they stopped counting because they didn't want people including that as part of their motivation to jump from the bridge -- i.e. "I'm #2932", etc... to draw some sort of meaning from it as part of their suicide plans.
  • According to this graph the count has continued beyond 1995 but not entirely accurately before 1995 or after. Click on the image to enlarge it. There hasn't been any figures added since February 2005. The total number is at least 1,218 and probably many more that weren't reported.
  • the old boy who used to count them jumping off retired and due to cost cutting they stopped employing trainees.
