Why is it so bad to have a sense of humor on this site? Seriously its like you make a joke and get -30 rating...

It is perfectly fine to have a sense of humour on this site, however, the people that get downrated for making jokes don't know how to control it. They give answers to serious questions that they may think is a joke, but from another person's perspective, it may be very offensive. Humour is good in the right doses

That is the question at times. I guess it's just a matter of where you inject that sense of humor though. Can be a loooong system of trial and error. And even then, not all of the people will find everything funny all of the time....all you can do is your best and make yourself smile!:)

I find a lot of people here hilarious! I think they prefer intelligent humour to dirty or vulgar.

A sense of humor is essential to live here just as anywhere. The trick is to be humorous without being disrespectful. If a joke hurts someone's feeling then just apologize and go on. Not everyone has the same sense of humor nor do we all find humor in some subjects.

All i do is make jokes in my answers and I haven't been downrated. I guess you have to tell the right jokes.

You just have to let it go. Don't let those who downrate you, get you down. Remember, some people do not have a sense of humor. Don't let their bad mood get you down.

It's not always easy joking here. You're bound to offend somebody or an entire group. But you must take chances, otherwise it would get too boring.

I agree ,I love to use wit and humor but it is hard to know if the person that asked the question wants a humorous answer or not.I sometimes wait to see what the others answer and if they get a good rating on their answers then I follow suit.Other times I don't give a damn and answer humorously no matter if I am rated -1000.

I get blasted from time to time when I cross the line and someone takes my humor the wrong way. I find that I can get pounced on rather heavily.

I think it's all in the timing. I have been pretty upset over -ratings, and then I thought "Don't sweat the small stuff" Then I get 25 points for some off the wall question. We all have our off days.
