  • Since your question is in wheels, you're probably refering to the front wheel hub. The hub is generally the rotating structural member that connects the bearing to the the brake rotor and wheel. It supports the weight of the vehicle (on that corner). If it is a driven wheel (ex. front wheel drive), it also functions as the torsional link between the drive axle and the wheel. Under braking, it acts as part of the clamp system between the rotor and wheel (including the wheel bolts and nuts). It functions something like that.
