Vampires do have a 'disease' that remarkable as it seems mimics a lot of the vampire characteristics: Porphyria : http://www.healthline.com/adamcontent/porphyria?utm_medium=ask&utm_source=smart&utm_campaign=article&utm_term=Porphyrias&ask_return=Porphyria More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porphyria Werewolves. Interestingly enough there is a disorder that causes the patient to look like a werewolf, its called "Werewolf Syndrome" For more on it and other medical oddities: http://www.oddee.com/item_84847.aspx However neither of these diseases appear to have influenced the myth of either creature. Mind in the old, old, old days (a few days before I was born so that is like really old) We had many gods, and the legends of those gods includes weird and wonderful cross breeds of species, such as the story of the minotaur. Further folk had no understanding of science - we hadn't discovered science at all in fact. For Vampires there is clear evidence that folk would suspect a vampire was at large if a person recently died and then people started getting sick. mind they didn't know about diseases and germs, thus the logical conclusion was that the first person who died is somehow bringing this on. So just to make certain that that person was really dead, they would dig him/her up. Most bodies start to decay and decompose rapidly after death, however on rarer occasions decay and decomposition can be slowed to where a person buried a month or a bit more can look like they were freshly buried. Blood on the dead person's lips (which happens as the gasses inside the body push fluids out the openings of the body) and even being slightly fatter (due to the gasses swelling the body) made it appear like this person had not only been drinking blood, but was also gaining a bit of weight. Over time the myth of the vampire grew. Its not until Bram Stoker that the Vampire became something elegant, prior to that time Vampires were 'undead' creatures, often partially decayed, usually with no social graces. The roots of Vampire also include energy vampires. Werewolves are shape-shifters, there are a lot of different types of shape-shifters and depending on the culture they can be good or evil beings. Again Myth appears to build upon older myths, gong back further and further into time back to religious origins which attempted to describe the world. two links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werewolf http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampire

Officially the creatures themselves are 'impossible', so, no. But nice idea for a story, although you'd have to tread carefully to avoid hurting albino people in society. Growing up, they get at least as much teasing and bullying as anyone who could claim race discrimination. Can you imagine kids running from you in the playground 'because of the vampires'?
