You either have to wait for the contractions to get more close to one another and time them or you can tell the hospital to keep you there, or they might break the water for you and give you the drip which accentuates labor. I wish you a safe labor and good luck! Your baby is on the way! :)

The best thing you can do is to keep moving. Walk around, stand, or lean - sit upright (no reclining) if you need to rest, but don't lay down. Staying upright keeps gravity working for you. It helps baby's head press against your cervix, which in turn helps your contractions move the dialation process along faster. (Obviously lay down if it's time to sleep. I'm only referring to the hours you're normally awake!) If the contractions are still irregular - then it just isn't time for "active" labor yet. You're still in early labor. Early labor can last hours - or even days. Do your best to stay relaxed, stay reasonably active (don't wear yourself out or anything - you'll need energy for labor and delivery), eat small meals and snacks and stay hydrated. That way you'll be ready as soon as your body is. :) Good luck - and congrats on your new baby!
