Diary is more feminine
A Diary is something that you keep private events and emotions to process as you grow along life's road...!!!
A Journal, on the other hand, like a newspaper is something written that one would want to share with people...!!! Dream Journals and Travel Journals are examples of writings that one would want to eventually share...!!!
A journal is usually kept by businesses.
A diary is kept by a person and is personal.
No difference. Daily, personal writing is both diary, journal, daily log - whatever you want to call it. 'Diary' has a feminine connotation so I prefer 'journal' when teaching.
