Well I honestly want to know because I cannot live without believing in Allah I really wonder why they don't believe in god !
-
"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."
-
When children many were made,by their parents,to go to places of worship. It was more of a tradition than anything else, for their parents went as well.Later, when the mind was developing throughout the teen years they developed cognitive reasoning so questioned their parent's religion, and the believe in a god. Many experimented with other religions first and the one's that became atheist's gave up on the believe of a higher power. They might have seen that religions separate us more than unite us,there is too much superstition and misunderstanding thus it does not serve them to believe in any type of god or goddess.

What do you mean "lose belief"? That's something that has to be drilled into you; what makes you NOT an atheist? Most of us would contend that we are all born atheists; as kids we learn to believe in Tooth Fairies, Easter Bunnies, Santa Claus ... and sometimes, God. Most atheists have outgrown ALL of those silly fantasies. Others choose to hold onto one or more, and that's okay, if you go for that sort of thing. Honestly, I can't imagine why, though.

Suggested reasons.. God and religion is simply a phase of human intellectual maturity and will eventually become a thing of the past. Through deep ESP experience the rare person can achieve insight to profound wisdom as well as visions that can become reality eg. Joan of Arc- on the historical record.. and erroneously assume it came from God. The Buddha was wise enough to determine that his insight was not of a supernatural source. The law of conservation of energy indicates that energy cannot be created nor destroyed- has always existed in some form, in other words infinite.. no need for a creator. If God does exist he is totally inert; like believing in nothing.

You are born an atheist, religion is something alien introduced to people when they are too young or too weak to resist.

Fundamentally to me it comes down to the definition of faith. Faith is something someone believes to be absolute truth with no proof that it is true. Who told you God was real? Who told them that God was real? and so forth.
-
I might ask you why, contrary to all reason and evidence believe in a God that for all intents and purposes seems to either not exist or has completely forsaken our little blue planet, but I won't ask you that because it is your right to believe in whatever or whomever you like. I don't think that I ever lost faith in a god, I simply never believed in one.
-
For me it wasn't ever a question of losing faith in God. I never had any faith to begin with, & the more I learned about the world simply reinfoced this view.
-
I was born without belief in a god. As a child, I was taught that there was a god. As I grew older, I realized that there was no reason to continue believing that, so I reverted to my original position, as an atheist.
-
this reason exactly: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

People do not become Atheist. They are born that way. It is through the stories of books written by men that people learn about religion. The difference is about knowing how to separate fact from fiction.
-
I believe that some people go through some kind of event in their lives that makes them question their religious beliefs, ultimately causing them to abandon their belief in a god. Other people slowly lose faith (or belief in a god) through rationalization. There is also the counterpoint to your question: Why do people become "believers"? Why do they begin to believe in the existence of a god?
-
we all are born without faith, man is the one who puts faith into our minds and hearts.
-
theres more freedom nowdays to be free in your thinking and less stigma attached to being unreligieous, no 'tar and feathering'
-
education , a growing IQ , street smarts , and history books . ;-)
-
You can't lose something you never had. People become atheists out of common sense and free thinking.
-
lack of proof. i'm a skeptic when it comes to everything. i have to have solid proof. it's hard for me to have faith.
-
religious is superficial, i search for deeper meaning and am unsatisfied with the concept of 'GOD'.
-
When I was a child I believed, like Santa. But when I became old enough to realized everything is scientific and not paranormal i decided to research and found out just how fake and contradicting of itself religion is, plus i mean come on? an invisible man living in the sky? with a list of 10 things he doesn't want you to do?
-
Disillusioned by the people who preach the faith. As them not showing that God is a God of Love, but a God of judgement and eternal damnation.
-
Answering this question comes dangerously close to answering on behalf of an Atheist, but with respect to Atheists, I believe some of them make the same mistake as their Christian counterparts. They see the misery, feel the misery in their personal lives, and place mankind's evil on God. Then there are others who believe that he simply does not exist, period. THey aren't angry or resentful or anything like that. They deduced it with a compilation of information. +5

Rationality and common sense kick in eventually for most.
