  • Yes but it depends on the video format and what your dvd player can play. I bought a dvd player specifically for playing avi/mpg mp4s etc so yes its possible but it really depends on your dvd player. Most dvd players will not play avi files and such so they have to be converted into a different format.
  • The easy way that kills two birds with one stone is to get a DVD burner - preferably with a hard disk (they are around £70 upwards) that has a SCART input and attach your video player. Some have editing software built in too so you can cut/paste, make DVD menus, etc. I found I could get roughly 2 videos onto a DVD with reasonable quality when I did it. I just left the videos playing overnight to the hard disk, then burned them onto the DVD. And the second dead bird? You now have a DVD burner with a hard disk that is a replacement for your old video player! You can play the DVDs and record from the TV too :)
