If you do a bicycle kick than why doesn't the force of gravity make the ball go directly down or make your head hit the ground.

    That's 'coz one would have trained well before doing it so generally falls on his back and falling doesn't hurt that much on turf.. you would know that if you ever played football. The player strikes the ball when it is being pulled down by gravity, he doesn't wait for it to fall..
