So many peope don't point questions so they do the + to let the person know they are the ones who pointed them. It's basically a way of saying I pointed you so now it's your turn to point me.
I geuss it's so that you'll kno that they added the points..
I don't know. It's stupid. Someone started doing it, now a lot of people are. Even long time users. I don't get it!!! Maybe a long time user can explain. I've been here for 1yr. 8 months and I have never done that.
Tho i like it !! lol
Well, I say '+5' if I actually give the person +5 because I want her to know I appreciated what she said. But I don't expect the person to give me points back in return.
What's the point? Well, I guess its FIVE points, really. ':)
(And yes, I +5-ed everybody else here, to date...) ;)
I do it to let people know that their answers are appreciated.
in order to circumvent the anonymous points system
It seems that the AB land of "woe is me" is shrinking and the AB land of "glad to see you here" is expanding. Do you agree? Know why?

You're reading Why do people on AB say +5? Whats the point?

Ha! I usually write down when I give points to someone so that the person knows I appreciated what s/he had to say. But I never expect the person I gave points to to return giving points to me. (I'll have to re-think recording the '+5' now, just when I thought I had that one all figured out.) ':)
