Why do people on AB say +5? Whats the point?

I don't know. It's stupid. Someone started doing it, now a lot of people are. Even long time users. I don't get it!!! Maybe a long time user can explain. I've been here for 1yr. 8 months and I have never done that.

So many peope don't point questions so they do the + to let the person know they are the ones who pointed them. It's basically a way of saying I pointed you so now it's your turn to point me.

Well, I say '+5' if I actually give the person +5 because I want her to know I appreciated what she said. But I don't expect the person to give me points back in return. What's the point? Well, I guess its FIVE points, really. ':) (And yes, I +5-ed everybody else here, to date...) ;)
