Collete isn't high school. The biggest reason for college failure is the student who treats college like high school. College is more like professional school. Nobody is going to tolerate too much fukking around. So they are nicer. If someone is acting like a high schooler, no worries. He'll be gone soon. Oh, and grad school? Most fun I ever had. If you mess around you're out. Pure and simple.

Cliqués are not so prevalent in college. Less importance is placed on fitting in and conformity. People feel more free to show their true selves and are less afraid of what may be thought of them for associating with the "wrong" type of person.

Because they are like: oh snap I actually have to study now and pay for shiz, supporting your self too, makes them mature a ton

It's part of life. People grow up and get more mature and realize that being mean to other people isn't going to get them anywhere in life.
