Done both, enjoyed the hot air balloon more.
Helicopter. More versatility and you can 'swing back around' if you wish.
Have always wanted a trip in a helicopter so that the one for me.+5

I have flown over the area where I live in a helicoptor before but I have never been in a hot air balloon, so I will go with the balloon.
You fly over and take a photo -- that's good enough for me.
Twilight? Or Hunger Games? Which one's Better, or do they both equally suck?

the blower is pretty loud and you aren't in an enclosed cockpit, so not really. You have more time to enjoy the scenery and changing altitude to change direction is an interesting means of navigation.

I have a relative who has attempted to cross the Atlantic in one a few times. I wouldn't care to join him on those trips (he usually gets rescued by the Coast Guard when he tries), but inland trips are a blast.
