Question

Help answer this question below.

Is it a good idea to do a degree in pure Chemistry? (Rather than a BSc specializing in Chemistry which will have other subjects like Biology, I'm interested in being a Chemist... preferably a Medicinal Chemist...I intend to do Computer Science with Chem)

Yes, is it... according to the Occupational Outlook handbook (210-2011), you will have more opportunities... It makes sense too: At the bachelor level you need to develop a minimum set of skill, if you specialize too much (inside the major) then you may lack some skills for future jobs. You can choose electives, or do a minor or even a double major if you are motivated, aside from your typical major. Try that you choose an ACS-approved/certified program in chemistry...Chemistry with computers is an excellent choice, keep motivated...
