Yes. BC meaning "Before Christ", AD meaning "Anno Domini" (Lat.-"year of our Lord"). Modern scholars mostly use BCE and CE (Before Common Era, Common Era) since the actual year of birth of Jesus of Nazareth was almost certainly not year 0 but probably about seven years earlier. +3

Technically they are, because Jesus is being referred to as Christ; but very few people, historians and scientists included, disagree that Jesus DID exist around that time. The only debate is whether he was just a nice person, or the son of God.
