There are a few reasons why one could come to the assumption that the God of creation is Good.
Firstly, the existence of pleasure. God has created means by which we can enjoy life. If God was evil, life would probably be at best dull. He has created good things, like sex, food, fellowship etc, which helps us to enjoy life.
Some might argue that the existence of Pain and suffering would show God to be evil, but these things exist logically if one were to consider the biblical fall of man. Because man is now cursed by God, suffering exists in the world as a sign of his justice.
Another reason you should consider is the form with which we are created. Man is not naturally born with deformity or disfigurement. God could have created us so that we would have a constant unfulfillable hunger, or have made us so that we bleed constantly and live in pain.
The last reason is that God has revealed himself to man. An evil God could have chosen for us to flail around in the dark and believe that there is no meaning for existence (probably the darkest thought that one could have to live with). Ironically, many have chosen to believe this anyway.
There probably is no god, but if you are talking about the biblical god, then yes, he is evil, he doesn't exist, but his character described by the bible is evil.
because satan is the bad one and god is the god one...thats just the way it works....yin and yang...you cant have one without the other
When Jesus was on the cross, do you think God was all like "you human bastards you've.....killed my son"?

I wonder - how would you respond when it is proven that God does exist? That there is undisputed, factual evidence of his existence?

You're reading If there is a God according to xtian/islamic belief, how are you sure he is good? Even if he is a very powerful being who designed this universe, are his motives not questionable? After all he created us for himself. And the Bible could be a nice lie

But this does not mean that God is good. I mean, what in the world is our purpose in life? Even with God factored in. God could be revealing himself in disguise, or not. If he is all-powerful, whos to say he's not lying to us and just mucking around with us. Maybe we're one of his toys. Even though God has given us the Bible, we are still flailing in the dark.
Preachers preach wrong, religions all around the world are different, we are confused with images of sex, drugs, partying and money. War and violence persist. Within this century we will have almost depleted all oil, along with many other natural limited resources.
I would say we are flailing in the dark, even with God.
And just because we have been give 'good' things, doesn't mean that they are. Friendships break apart, love creates hopeless hearts, sex ends up with std's, food makes us fat.
Who's to say God isn't just mucking around with us, gives a Bible and goes, "Let's see what they do."

As I said, this can all be explained with the biblical Fall. If the bible is true, this description of the world does fit- so there is no reason to doubt God's truthfulness, this is merely speculation. The purpose of life considering God's existence is his glorification; that is what he designed us for.
The Israelites probably also considered that God could have been evil, as one can note when reading the Exodus. They were never sure if god would live up to his promise, but in the end he did magnificently. One might also consider the cross a display of his goodness and mercy, that he himself died for a fallen people.
In other religions, God is not necessarily good; such as Islam.
However, If God is evil and this is all a lie, what choice do we have? He is all powerful, he would know what you're thinking right now- there's no way you could somehow overcome him, there is nothing you would be able to do with that knowledge. You might as well then assume his goodness

Funny how Occam's Razor is scientific gospel UNTIL it's applied to God. Then all bets are off. lmao @ 'anonymous' ppl without the courage of their 'convictions'.
