I was about to ask a similar question. This is the day I've seen the most duplicates since I've been on AB. What gets on my nerves is that they KNOW it's a duplicate and post it anyway.
-
Yes, they do. But! I'm sure most of the time it isn't coming from experienced user's. All the newbie's do it. Before I ask a question I always check to see if someone else has asked it.
-
i think its because your question reminds them of a similer question they had, so its alot alike and preceived as a dupe
-
They do to an extent, but then again some of the questions have so many answers now that it would almost be easier to make a "part 2" question or something For example, take the "favorite movie line" question. I think there are 40 pages or so on that one now...I'm not going to read through all of those, but if it was only a few I would.
-
Yes it's very frustrating because it seems like people are only concerned with points, not about the actual questions and answers. Pay attention people! Don't ask duplicate questions, just search for it first!
-
I dont see why people do it, because you know it shows on the right of the screen whether or not it has been asked. I guess people dont read.
-
A duplicate question is a question in which the answer stays the same and NEVER changes. For instance.. What was the Beatles first album? That would be a duplicate question because the answer would NEVER change. An example of a question asked in the exact same words, such as Is it better to give than receive, would not be considered duplicate for the ELEMENTARY fact that everyday someone may have a different view and reason as to why they would feel one way or the other.Questions regarding peoples personal opinion, matters of relationships, etc. in the abstract form would NOT be considered a duplicate question. It is pretty easy to understand for those who are having a hard time deciphering what exactly constitutes a duplicate question. Trust me... in my professional practice I am certainly aware of people who repeat themselves or the actions of others.

Whats the big deal? duplicity is a form of flattery, enjoy!
-
I do! They drive me crazy.
-
N0..why would you hate something inevitable and unavoidable? New people join every day..they don't know what was asked before. Sometimes people copy others because they can't come up with their own questions..big deal! Some questions are really not alike but people with the inability to discern see them as asking the same thing..so what? Sometimes I feel differently about a question I've answered before..so I answer it again and say what I think this time! If it bothers you, ignore them! :)
-
no, because I realize sometimes it's by accident.I ry to give ppl a break plus i'm sure i've done it.
-
Yup, but sometimes it could be down to the website hanging on computers and people click again so hence you get two questions the same.
-
Yep ...sometimes ..but somedays it is just a mere passage of time :-)
-
Depends. If it is asked more than twice in an hour then yes i do
-
LoL ! Yep .... ;-)
-
Kinda like this one, yeah!
-
This is basically a dupe...
-
I hate questions with parking meters. 25 cents for 15 minutes is outrageous!
-
funny guy!!
-
They ARE annoying questions, I must admit. Some people dont realize that there is a whole archive of questions previously asked, and that you must be creative when thinking of one. :)
-
especially the Can I be pregnant asked 1400 different ways - Yes!
-
Nope. ------ I used to post them on Yahoo!Answers. ------ Check out my question: Are multiple accounts and cross-posting permitted on Answerbag, and if so, are they common (/not uncommon) and easily tolerated? http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/3808778
-
Only when it's a blatantly obvious duplicate. Like when it comes up as one of the three suggested questions next to the box where the question about to be submitted sits.
-
this is a duplicate as well so yes
-
I'm likely creating a few. Cross-posting. Here are a few of my questions in this regard: Are multiple accounts and cross-posting permitted on Answerbag, and if so, are they common (/not uncommon) and easily tolerated? http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/907630 If cross-posting is frowned on by some in Yahoo!Answers, and apparently banned on Answerbag, what other answer sites permit it? http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/926440 With Yahoo Answers I can link cross-posts to a chosen post. Can I do so with AnswerBag, and if so, how? http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/864739 and one I asked on Yahoo: Dagnabit! I'll cross-post if I feel like it. It's my 25 points. Capisce? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvFArrO3q9nScgJRyV804DgjzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20080719110113AAPkm4x

Not really. I've been here a while. How can I possibly remember every single one of the 300 + questions I've written or answered. It happens.
-
No ,if its worth asking once why not twice?
-
Yeah. Especially since this is a duplicate.
-
When I ask a question, and the "similar question" list contains questions that aren't even remotely connected, I am not about to go through the 15 or more pages shown. I often check the first three or four pages, and quit.
-
Not really. I've asked my share of duplicate questions. Not because I don't look to see if they're out there, because the submission page only shows you three different possible matches. If a question is worded just a little bit different that the similar question, it won't show up in those three suggestions, so I assume the question hasn't been asked. If it has, so be it. That just means someone gets 5 moderation points and the original question gets some more input. No harm done.
-
No. With almost a million questions on AB, it would be hard for some people to know that someone has already posted that question. Even the top ABers have posted duplicates. The top ABers are humans too, and are bound to make mistakes.
-
Yes, but because of the search for answers link dosen't work effectively many are confused for getting marked duplicate.
