Due to the limited space in the question I am answering my question to elaborate on my thoughts. Although he criticized wiretaps during his campaign, Obama supports the Bush era wiretap for security. Still, it doesn't seem to be effective in preventing an Al Qaeda inspired attack. It doesn't seem to be employed to protect Americans but rather to protect the process itself. The Bush administration frequently invoked the state security privilege when lawsuits threatened post-2001 wire taps. The Obama administration announced a new review process using more senior Justice Department officials. Attorney General Eric Holder said, that review process convinced him "there is no way for this case to move forward without jeopardizing ongoing intelligence activities that we rely upon to protect the safety of the American people." Obama immediately knew all the details in case of Sgt. Crowley 3 month ago and immediately called him "stupidly". The truth is becoming too much inconvenient for the liberals indeed.
