I have a 60 year old baby Baptismal dress that has gotten very yellow with age. Is there a safe way to whiten the fabric?

Try soaking it in cold water with a good bit of baking soda. (only if it sounds like a good idea to you -- I don't want to give a suggestion that might ruin your piece)

Also, I have found Fels Naptha soap to whiten old garments. White Dial Soap does almost as good a job.
