You probably have a fuel injector leaking fuel after your turn off the ignition. If the intake valve is open fuel finds its way into the cylinder and past the rings diluting your oil, not good for lubrication. If a lot of fuel leaks into a cylinder it can cause hydraulic lock when you are trying to start the engine bending the connecting rod, very bad for engine operation. Fuel injectors usually last around 10 years so your injector may have been damaged by dirty fuel. Have your mechanic check the fuel filter and fuel tank when you are repairing the engine.
