    Blu-ray is a different format. It is higher in definition, which means a clearer picture and richer colors. The disc' are dual layered. If you hold a blu-ray disc against a standard disc you will notice a slight thickness in size. The quality of the picture is in 1080P. A regular disc is 480i. You will need a tv capable of a 1080P display to enjoy the benefits of blu-ray.
