Question:

Why do people think guys who fix their hair, dress fashionably or stylish, spend lots of time grooming and fixing themselves in front of a mirror are gay or metrosexual. Im as straight as you can get and I do all this stuff.

Good for you. You are metrosexual. What the heck do you think that means? It's a straight guy who is stylish and takes all the care you have mentioned. It's not gay.

I know it doesnt mean gay...I just dont like the term...lol

Well, if it is any comfort, I think it is great you do this. We straight women love gays because they are gorgeous as a rule and if they are not, they know how to make themselves look very good. It's about time straight men go for the gusto too.

The definition of a metrosexual is a straight guy who does all that stuff. Your question is like saying "why does everyone call me a baker? I just like to kneed dough and put it in ovens until it turns into bread or pastry."

I don't like the term either, because people tend to question a mans sexuality if he's well groomed, and that's not fair. Honestly, I prefer a man who takes care of himself, but not a man who looks in every mirror he passes, and takes longer than an hour to get dressed. I think women would rather be the one who looks the best in a relationship, and when a man takes part in looking good, too, people start to question why. +4

Women want masculine guys, not guys who compete with them. But, go ahead. Get all dolled up. It'll make mom proud.

Ion, you're absolutely right! My ex wasn't meticulous, but he always put forth an effort to look good for me. He showered often and always looked neat. Not to mention he smelled AMAZING!!! I think David Beckham is gorgeous, and if he ever slipped once in looking good I think women would think something was wrong with him. I think some women just like smelly, rugged, dirty looking men, and that's ok if that what you prefer.

Maybe you could come up with a new term, something to replace "metrosexual"!
It used to be a good thing, remember the 50's? All the shows had dudes who took care of themselves! Just because it's cool now to get fat and look like crap doesn't mean you have to!

Just do what you wanna do, and forget about "slang" terms, in a few years the whole "roll outta bed" look will go down the drain, and you will be the trendsetter!

It does help when you don't primp in the mirror around other people, though! Don't let others catch ya!

Dressing fashionably is one thing - but if a guy is going to spend so much time looking good, he aint going to have much time to spend on me :-)

Spend 10 mins fixing urself up AT MOST. If u spend like an hour then just wow. im not including brushing your teeth and taking a shower. Im saying like fixing ur hair or picking out what to wear. I take about 10 mins because my hair is friken weird sometimes and i need to wash it to make it straight instead of curly but thats just me.
