    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

The first CD (compact disc) player was invented in 1981. The CDP-101 featured one-touch music selection capabilities, measured 12 cm long and was light in weight. In 1982, the device was offered for public sale. The invention resulted from a joint collaboration between Phillips, Polygram, Sony and CBS/Sony companies.

Wrong! The CD player was actually invented by james russell in 1965. The Sony Phillips CD player was the first commercial player sold to the public. Two VERY different things.
