  • I'm not Muslim, but here's my take on it. The three Abrahamic religions all seem to have something negative to say about homosexuality (to my knowledge Jesus never mentioned it, but some of his followers are quite adamant about the subject), which coincides with the culture at the time. The Middle East was a predominantly agricultural region that had a heavy emphasis on kinship - you could argue that the same is true today. Having children to help with the land, the harvest, and the animals, was vital. Marriage and children linked families and, being a patriarchal society, inheritance was decided according to the type of kinship patterns. Two married men, or two married women, would disrupt this entire process. Their family line would be cut short which would be considered a tremendous loss. To warn people away from such relationships, homosexuality was labelled as a sin. Rather than explaining to illiterate masses the sometimes intricate details of such a prohibition, it would be far easier to forbid it "because God said so." Of course, this is only speculation on my part...but I'd go so far as to say that that is the reason for a lot of laws, like not being able to eat pigs, and so on.
  • Why don't Christians like homosexuals, aren't they supposed to be an understanding religion?
  • What do you mean? There are thousands of homos in Arab countries.
  • If it was an understanding religion, they wouldn't call non believers "Infidel".
