The people that I know who know the most about the bible are neither, actually.

I have never personally heard of that sterotype.. I do not feel it is true that one religion knows the Bible more than another, because every person in the religion is different, some study the Bible more than others.
-
I think it is not about their religious affiliation, but rather about what they put into learning about the religion, bible...

I've heard it a lot. I know a mix of Catholics and Protestants and the truth is that both get Church teachings mixed up witht he bible. Christianity has a lot of theology from Christian thinkers that has become so common thought that people think it to be biblical. A lot of people also just read what they want to read. I think it's an issue of jumbling everything together cause I've noticed that Christians sometimes mix up different stories in different books too. I don't think it's ignorance i think it's just easy to get things mixed up, i'm sure there are some people on either side who don't know and don't really care to as long as they go to church. We've all met at least a couple of those people. Don't lie, you know you have.lol

It is more or less true. I've been to Protestant and Catholic schools, four years each. In the Protestant school, the Bible was used in all classes. And I do mean all classes. In the Catholic school, I don't think we ever used a Bible, even in Religion class. Just giving you a first hand look. Protestants, at the very least, just put more emphasis on the Bible than Catholics do.

The Catholics I know tell me that there is far less emphasis on individual study of the Bible than in many other Christian denominations. Therefore, there would be less known about the Bible.

IMO, I don't think anyone really "knows" the bible. It's just an "opinion" book, or a "interpretation book", since there's no proof to it.
