Help answer this question below.
Yes they are, its Windows XP that has been discontinued. (almost sure)
You can still buy Vista for Home or Premium. You can also buy a computer with Windows XP, but they will quit the online help, and service by 2011. If you're not running Windows 7 and you want Vista, install Vists Premiun first, then Windows 7.All the new computers built after the end of 2009 will be running Windows 7. Perhaps you might want to wait. The Vista Premium will already be on some of the new computers also, it's your choise.
Yeah, a far as I know.
yes

Lately I hear tiny beep when I try to access the HD. It doesn't access. I try again and it does. The screen freezes up or the cursor stops.

I work for a nationwide federal work/study institution, and they just purchased thousands of new Dell PC's....and they all have Windows XP SP3. We should be getting 110 of them in a few weeks.
That means Windows XP is still kicking!

I work for a federal work/study institution and they just purchased thousands of new Dell PC's....and they all have Windows XP Pro as their Operative System. We should be getting 110 of them in three weeks. That means Windows XP is still kicking. Here is a good vendor that I trust:
