Kids/sex before marriage, and living together without being married.
Let's see...off the top of my head...
* Children born out of wedlock.
* Pants that are too big for your butt.
* Profanity on tv.

Women in a bar room
Women smoking
showin off your gams!
Swearing..... especially f*ck!
women showing ankles in public ... but my favorite is showing married couples in the same bed on TV instead of sleeping in seperate twin beds
well it depends on the believes of each country , each religion but in general i'll say that may be the only common thing that used to be disgraceful but not any more is makin' love before marriage .
pregnancy before marriage.
homosexuality.
tatoos.
showing skin.
cuss words.
magic.
dirty house.
eating your dinner with your desert fork ("how am i supposed to choose between the four of these, anyway??")lol
All kinds of things - within my lifetime - interracial relationships (including friendships) interracial marriage, living together before marriage, having children out of wedlock, keeping your child with a disability at home rather than institutionalizing, being openly gay or lesbian, having a president who is not a middle-aged white man, women wearing pants in public, swearing in public, women smoking and drinking...It goes on and on. The amount of change since the late 1950s is staggering.
Yes, its terrible. Everything from living together before marriage and premarital sex to profanity and music with bad lyrics and our media. What is this world coming to?
Sodomy. One need only to look at two U.S. Supreme Court cases separated by not too many years:
Bowers v. Hardwick (1986): Upheld the constitutionality of a Georgia sodomy law that criminalized oral and anal sex in private between consenting adults.
Lawrence v. Texas (2003): Explicitly overruled Bowers, held that intimate consensual sexual conduct was a liberty interest protected by the 14th Amendment.
I appreciate that most of these answers involve attitudes towards women as there are more opportunities to behave in adverse/different ways than historically possible.
Do people have any similar ways that male behaviour has changed?
Anal sex! Avarice!
Doing anything besides giving commands to a black person.
So... you want a list. Here is what I can remember.
Kids arguing and being disrespectful to teachers, parents or any adult. Sagging.
Not giving up your seat on a train or bus to a woman or elderly person. Not offering help to a woman, disabled person or an elderly person with a door, groceries, car trouble or things neighbors used to do out of common courtesy or kindness.
Trash talking about the President.
Body piercing.
Charging 27% interest on anything.
Dressing causally in a place of worship.
Airing private and dirty laundry on radio or national tv.
Not taking personal responsibility for your actions and behaviors. (to big to fail).
Flunking kids in school who could not pass or make the grade. Not holding to academic standards.
Public swearing or telling off-color jokes around women, children, mixed generational gatherings or at the work place.
Venting your marital discord and details of divorce in front your children.
Not being to work on time and not working while you are there.
Swearing on the radio or in music.
Letting your children run around in a store or restaurant without watching them.
Being home at a certain time on school nights.
Getting personal phone calls at work or school that are not emergency related.
Tattoos if you were not a sailor, biker, convict or pirate.
Earrings on men.
Minorities in government or civil service.
Women who flaunt their nudity and indiscretions in public.
Not spanking your children to discipline them.
Buying only what you can't afford on credit.
Commercializing holidays.
Practicing birth control.
Advertising personal hygiene or male enhancement products on television.
Scandals involving professional athletes, entertainers, financial institutions and government, state employees.
Arguing publicly about any issue or topic when it is clear to all that the person arguing is clueless.
Subverting civic, government, religious, educational or military objectives and normal processes for personal agendas and personal gain.
Taxpaying citizens condoning corruption and irresponsible behavior from elected officials.
Media fabrication of lies and half-truths for ratings and entertainment.
Being a member of a gang. Using drugs, shooting people in schools, university campuses and churches, violating parole, being sent to and spending time in a correctional facility.
These do not begin to scratch the surface.
Michael Jackson
SHACKING up...............
Adultery; Children before marriage (the term bastard was originally applied to any children born out of wedlock), prostitution, pornography
Women openly participating in simultaneous sexual relationships with multiple partners with no shame or inhibition. People going on TV shows (like Jerry Springer) and discussing all of their dysfunctionality to millions of viewers. The instilling of morals and family values have gone to the way of the dinosaur.
Speaking from the perspective of an American:
Women wearing pants
Women voting
Women holding jobs outside of the home
Women getting an abortion (although people still do protest this, it's at least legal now)
Basically anything regarding the rights of women that they are now granted.
Actually, that goes for minorities too. In many respects, America has come a long way in the last 100 years (and yet sometimes I wonder how much we've really progressed, but that's another topic for another discussion).
Promiscuity
Going to Jail
Alcoholism and Drug Use
Whoring around.
Sexualy strange stuff.
Kids without marriage.
.
Insulting people without getting
Your satisfaction from a duel.
Now everyone can pour shit on You
as much as they want, as long as
You're not an important politician.
.
For a man: being submissive towards
a woman and allowing her to talk back
and insult You without giving Her bruises.
.
Porn and prostitution.
.
Anonymous "trolling" - both on the internet
and in real life - and getting away with it.
.
In general almost everything seems to be
acceptable nowadays.
.
Just a while more and people will start
wondering whether it should become acceptable
to f*** infants. Who knows, maybe it's just
some old predicament, a thing of the past,
that only close-minded dinosaurs seem to
forbid.
.
Maybe killing chosen people in the society
should also be acceptable. Maybe even some
day You won't be considered a real man until
You hunt down at least one neighbour with
a hatchet.
.
After all "everything is for people" and
"You need to try everything at least once
in life". Why would incest, rape and murder
be excluded from this rule?
Having sex outside a marriage.
The press and the nation used to "respect" the office of the president. That's why we don't have hardly any pictures of Roosevelt in a wheelchair or Kenedy with a girlfriend. Heck, for a long time, the incumbant president wasn't even allowed to campaign for himself, he had to send out his VP on the trail to speak for him (but that was when the president actually had work to do, I think).
Talking on a cell phone in a freaking restaurant!
Blatant narcissism.
Photographing or filming of sexual escapades...
Bathing.
Unwashed Christian used to be a point of pride.
I dunno. Autoerotica?
;-)
sex..
Divorce is one. (and I am all for it)
Admitting you are not a responsible adult as evidenced in the form of lawsuits if you trip or fall in a public place, or otherwise hurt yourself. Remember the lady who got burnt with hot coffee. We would have never sued, and especially never have admitted we did something that stupid. You took your lumps and got on with your life. Any thing else would have been disgraceful. Lacking grace.
Stealing - expecting the goverment to give you a job - using race to set the President up for failure - selling out - the idea that life revolves around (only)you - passing children, who cannot do the work - a world full of people, who are only looking for hand out - having to fight for a college education - our word means nothing - allowing a child to go hungry - homeless families
Anal sex used to be punishable by death.
Worshipping statues/paintings that were considered to have some kind of link to God or belonged to the extremely religious and thus had 'healing' powers.
Praying outside of church instead of attending church to pray. Not praying at all could sometimes be considered heresy and punishable by death/imprisonment.
Allowing women into the medical profession.
Allowing women into universities.
Ethnic minorities having an education in western countries.
The words bi**ch, sl*t, a** on tv.
Rude behavior.
Many are very accepting of a completely immoral lifestyle. The country is paying for that.
Cursing
Kids having sex (13-18)
Kids having babies
Kids having abortions
divorce and sex before marriage----what the Bible calls fornication.
HOMOSEXUALITY...for sure! ...btw, I'm NOT Gay and am old enough to remember when the word "gay" was used to describe a mood..lol...not a person. To each his own... Viva la difference!!
Stay at home dads.

you can't touch a woman until you're married to her.
When I was a young man, you never said the word "fuck" in the presence of a lady. I've actually seen a fight because some guy said it in front of another guy's girlfriend. It seems today, the girls say it as much as the guys do.
incest, being gay, underage sex, death penalties(which im for. the prisons are full)
Ladies wearing their underwear as outerwear.

You're reading What is something that was once considered to be disgraceful but seems to be acceptable in recent times?

That seems to be so.

That was the first thing that came to mind. It was obviously totally unheard of back in....I was gonna say ancient times but that's a bit mean lol, so...a while back, cos so many older people are acting all shocked and judging people who have kids before marriage or live together before marriage.
