• Correct! we know what she is learning and no peer pressure. its 1 on 1 instead of 1 on 30. We control her learning environment. Etc..

• Some could call that domestic imprisonment.
  Not home schooling specifically (I'm a big supporter, actually) but a complete lack of socialization? That's insane.

• There are home school groups. For instance. YMCA has Home school PE and other programs for home schoolers.. Hobby lobby has Home school art classes. We just signed her up for a troop for home school girl scouts. They Have Home school sports teams, Soccer, basketball, baseball,softball, track. A local gymnastics gym around here have a program for home schoolers. The skating rink has homeschool skate once a month. The bowling alley has Home school bowling once a month. A college around, here every play they have there is one day reserved just for homeschoolers. museums have home school days. The parents organize events for all the home schooled children like last month they had Field day like we had in school. the list goes on. All the parents know all the home school parents.She gets alot of socialization and alot of friends and the she has alot of kids she plays with even in our neighborhood. complete lack of socialization? I really doubt you can say that with all she does.

• And NONE of those kids could possibly have access to illegal drugs.
  Like I said - keep thinking your kid is going to be completely free of any possible introduction to illegal drugs, JUST because he does not attend public school.
  It's laughable, really.

• She is 7, I really doubt kids that age are going to have illegal drugs. All the parents are there at all these events so it IS heavily monitered. All these families are deep rooted in thier churches, even the kids are very active in the churches. Yes, I admit it isn't 100% fool prof but it is very close to it.

• The question contained teenage and adult years. Living with the belief that homeschooling is a near-foolproof prevention of "undesirable" activity is a farce. I can't tell you how many teen pregnancies and drug addicts I've seen come from "deep rooted" church-based homeschooling families.

  I'm not bashing you, I just want you to know that it's NOT foolproof. In fact, I might even call it a contributing factor, as a lot of homeschoolers feel they're missing out on something, and go out of their way to find it. When I was eleven, a good friend of mine ended up in the hospital after trying to make her own cigarettes out of things she found in her mom's spice cupboard. On the other hand, I lived in a horrible household, went to public school for 14 years, and have no idea what it feels like to be intoxicated.

  It's ultimately the kid's choice, whether you like it or not.
