  • I would say that for personal family related reasons you are no longer available for overtime.
  • Always come up with an excuse, like you & the spouse are having problems & u need to spend more time with them to work this out. If you have kids say its costing to much for a babysitter & u have to watch your budget. Or your animal has been sick & u don't want to leave it alone for to long.
  • Well, theoretically they CAN fire you for refusing to work overtime if it's required - no matter what excuse you give them. If you're having issues with getting paid the correct wage, then bring it to their attention and let them know that it's illegal for them not to pay you the overtime rate. You're doing your part in working the overtime and they need to do their part and pay you accordingly. You can always file a claim with the department of labor if they continue to screw you over.
