    I know there are a lot of them here, but the first thing I thought of was "buck". They use it in India, too...for rupees. I almost had a hernia when I was told a soda was 35 bucks! :D

    In the UK a pound is also called a quid.

    A 5p coin is still sometimes called a "bob", particularly by older people, this dates back to the nickname of the old shilling.
