  • G'day Grlrambo24, Thank you for your question. My understanding is that it takes 3 to 6 months for a nipple piercing to fully heal. I would check with your doctor and/or piercer but I wouldn't do anything until they had. You don't want to harm your breasts or get an infection. I have attached sources for your reference. • This is a piercing that takes patience! wait a while longer, and it will be worth in the futur. Nipple piercings can leave nasty scars if not taken care of propely. I have scars and that are noticable. And if you really wish to put in a sheild, then email your peircer and ask what he/she would recomend.
  • My take on this is that it would be best to remove the foreign object from your body and let the wound heal completely. Then try to forget about this whole sordid affair.
  • The issue is not with removing the piercing, but with the weight the shield will put on the piercing. In order to prevent migration, I would have to say you should wait a minimum of six weeks before you put any kind of shield on it, but as some of the others have posted- ASK YOUR PIERCER. Only a professional can tell you what you should or should not do to your particular piercing. If you feel like you must make a change, buy different color or style balls for the ends of your barbell. Those can be changed at any time without removing the piercing or adding any weight.
