Help answer this question below.
Actually, X-Mas is celebrated as Christ's birthday, but most scholars agree he was born closer to summer than that. The RC Church moved X-Mas to Dec 25th in order to de-conflict it with other holidays and to use it to co-op the winter solstice celebrations of various pagan religions.
So as you can see, singing happy birthday wouldn't be appropriate.
Hope this helps.
When I was a kid, the church had a special "kids's mass" for Christmas. The regular Christmas masses were always so full, getting the kids outa the way was helpful. At this mass we did sing happy birthday... and we had birthday cake after.
Well Mensan, we have always sang Happy Birthday in Sunday School, but there is a song out there called Happy Birthday Jesus, and we sing thatsong in church too ! +6
You don't know this as you have not been in all Christian Churches. I have been present when Happy Birthday was indeed sung at Christmas.
Some do. I've seen it done. But He is important enough to have His own birthday songs, He doesn't have to share the generic one sung to everyone else.
Mensan - It's SANTA CLAUS'S birthday!
With the arrival of children, we sang Happy Birthday to Jesus and had a cake for Jesus. Then presents could be opened. The kids also made or bought something for Jesus, usually adding to the nativity scene. I know of one Catholic Church that has Santa coming in the church at the end of the service. He has a cake and the whole congregation sings Happy Birthday to Jesus. Many churches have a "Children's Mass" and sing to Jesus during or after the enactment of the first Christmas. It doesn't matter if it is Sunday or not.
I like the Beatles one better....lol and no not in the church I had to go to..
Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus and if you really think about it.. if he was 33.5 when he died and he died in the spring time, he would have actually been born around the time of October.
Jesus never celebrated his birth while he was on earth and he instructed his followers to commemorate his death.

They should give him birthday beats too! Woah 2009 this year, ouch.
good point. it shouldnt matter what day it is. it would be a good song to sing any sunday.

You're reading J'ever notice that, when Xmas is on a Sunday (if you're in a Christian church) that the congregation NEVER sings "Happy Birthday to You," to Jesus Christ? Why not? If it is his birthday anniversary, shouldn't that be sung to him in church?

So, if what you say is correct, then what was his original birthdate?

Took the answer from me, Barsoom!
.
Mensan, this is correct. Chrisitans moved Christian holidays closer to Pagan holidays, to make the conversion of Pagans easier. Christ was actually born in late Spring.
.
Another example of this, is All Saints Day. It was moved from April, to November 1st to coincide with celtic and pagan holidays.
