  • That is exactly why I do not have any religion; I don't trust information I cannot get multiple corroborating sources on. Unlike religion, other information is usually less contested and thus more easily verifiable.
  • My willingness to trust information on the internet is no different than my willingness to trust information from any other source. But my trust is based on the source, previous experience with that source, corroborating evidence, etc. The rules are the same as in real life - if it seems too good to be true...... yadda yadda.
  • i am willing to trust a university website along with good had on paper factual evidence. Will not however take joe shmoe's website at a word.
  • It's the source that may or may not instill confidence in me. A university website, a product development white paper etc would hold more weight than a website by, um, me for example.
  • I trust the facts if I trust the source. If the website belings to a reputable organization known for its integrity and accuracy, I'm likely to trust the information I find there. Anything else I run through www.snopes.com
  • I trust sites like wikipedia, cdc, and I check to see if any complaint blogs are posted for independent researchers.
