Its a game they can never win.
They have actually linked this behavior to high cholesterol. They say if your dog is chasing it's tail often, they very well may have high cholseterol.
I just want to know how they figured that one out. LOL
It's the thrill of the chase. It takes a determined dog to catch it !! :) +5
Could be their prey drive kicking in. They see something move and they go after it. Or maybe they're just being silly and entertaining themselves.
