  • well most of the sad memories are of family, loosing a loved one ,and you can try so hard to not let it eat at you ,but even your best memories are of family so you will always think of them.

  • For me, many of the bad times had me in fear for my life so there was a a lot of adrenaline and my senses were sharper. When you are noticing EVERYTHING, you tend to remember more of it many years later, in much the same way that a high-resolution picture is still visible when slightly blurred while a lo-res one turns into a vague blob.
  • That doesn't describe my memories at all. I have trouble remembering the bad. But I've got great stories about the happy times, funny times, or just feeling good. Then again, not much happened that was bad and they weren't big bad things, just little ones or social ones.
  • I actually read an article on this. Basically it said that humans have a propensity for remembering negative memories over positive ones, one of the reasons being a basic survival instinct. They even broke it down to a physiological level, but I don't remember the specifics. I'll see if I can find the article.
  • Good memories mostly, my mother taught me how to roller skate in the livingroom of our house. The bad memory was letting my parents think I didn't like ice cream because I knew they had tough financial problems so when the ice cream truck came I just pretended it was nasty.
  • I think it is the other way around. Nevertheless, a person chooses to dwell on the good or the bad memories. I believe most of the bad memories are repressed by most people, and that can be both a good and a bad thing.
