More than three, I would guess. A lady on her own with four cats would seem to me to be a cat lady.

If you have more than 3 you are close to being a cat lady. If you sit in your chair, petting the cats fur backwards like Cruella Deville, You are "definitely" a cat lady.

I would think any more than four would qualify. : )

id say 6 for a minor cat lady, and anything over 12 as a moderate cat lady, 30+ for an intense cat lady.

That depends - is she elderly and wealthy? Does she live alone? Do her clothes smell of formaldehyde? And is there a sneaking suspicion in the back of your mind that she may have killed her husband(s) many years ago? If so, then four at least.

Our local news paper had a headline many months ago about a raid on a womans home to remove cats. Headline said something to the effect of "Cat lady has been a hoarder for at least 20 years. She had 70+ cats and a few litters of kittens.

More than one, that isn't in the freezer, should qualify.
