Why doesn't California have a petroleum extraction tax? (These taxes could generate some badly needed revenue for the state.)

Oh, great idea because you see California doesn't have enough taxes. They tax the damn air in Cali and people have been moving out of that state in droves because of the tax problems there on property etc. Rich people leave that state because the taxes are already exorbitant. Maybe California should rethink.

No matter who is getting taxed the consumer pays it - might be a few opposed. As to this, one most are trying to lower energy costs - would not help. +5

Because we already have the highest gas prices in the country. Last year the gas went to $4.90 for regular. What we should is punish those polititians for letting this happen when they still get pay raises

oh, this is just GREAT..now you've given our Govenator another thing to tax as this was about the ONLY thing NOT taxed...tell me what State you live in so I can call your Govenor! :-) <joke of course!>
