  • Software is not created with those who would abuse it in mind. It is created for those who would use it. As a result, functionality typically trumps security. Software companies do try to find the obvious issues and fix them, but it is always those who pick it apart with a fine toothed comb who discover the remaining issues and alert the creators. But to say that Microsoft is the only software company who has security issues is misleading. Linux has issues too. But you won't hear about them. Because only 5% or less of the consuming public uses it. So it is less of a target. Using your car analogy, if 90% of the world owned a Ford Taurus for a car, we would know every little nuance about it, including all of its failings. It would make the car look a lot worse than it actually is.
  • Basically because we allow them to and are unwilling to learn a different way of doing things. Now, if even a sizable percentage of us were willing to go through the hassle of earning to configure a user-friendly distro of Linux, then maybe MS would have some pressure to create a QUALITY product. As it stands, Macroshaft takes advantage of the fact the fact that most people are too stupid/lazy/intimidated to do so, therefore allowing them to maintain a relatively large share (>95%) of the OS market. In other words, it's your fault.
  • At my company they don't! We went Apple Mac, never had a Virus and not one crash in 18 months! Faster, less expensive to run, cooler, easier.....Soory i am salivating!
  • They get away with it by having a non-benevolent monopoly. I run Linux and so should you.
