  • Sorry - wrong way round. Prove the religious are lying. It is not unlawful to make unprovable statements ("This invention will revolutionise the world", "I expect these stocks to rise"). It not even illegal to be wrong - to make statements which are later found to be false. So it would only be illegal if you can prove that the money-grubbing preacher did not believe what he preached.

  • lots of lies are not unlawful. try justifying the invasion of another country or selling "new and improved" products [how can a product be both new AND improved?]. religion is still the basis for most "civilized law", it's doctrine is seldom addressed. i can't prove the existence of love, but i can point to many indirect indicators of love. for these really hard questions, sometimes all we've got to go on is the indirect...
