I'm a fanatic about my food being hot. I usually heat a Corning Ware pie plate on a burner for a few minutes then use it as a plate. Works quite nicely. Regular stoneware plates can be heated in the oven but not on a burner. So, it takes a lot less energy to heat a Corning one on top of the stove.
