Help answer this question below.
It is totally confusing. For example, in ‘Repentance’ [At-Tauba] 9: 29’ Quran lays down ‘how the believers (majority) should treat the minority (non-believers)’:
“Fight those who not believe in Allah-and-the-Last-Day, —and do not forbid what Allah-and-his-messenger have forbidden— such men Practise not the religion of Truth, being of those who have been given ‘the Book’ [Jews & Christians] until they pay the required tribute [jaziya tax] with their own hands while they are in a state of subjection --and have been humiliated.” [brackets added]
*
So the question is: why did an illiterate prophet's followers write down 'the book' Koran, when his god (Allah) was so 'Anti-book' & anti- people of the Book, or "of those who have been given ‘the Book’ [Jews & Christians] ?

It is totally ok for a Muslim to read the Bible to get more information about a prophet, but Muslims also believe that the Bible is currupt, so they have to be carefull when they read it.

You're reading As a Muslim you believe in Adam, Noah, Jesus...etc. Persons 'only' identified in the book of the Bible. What are Islam's thoughts about the reading of this book, to have a greater grasp of these individuals?

The verse 9:29 goes something like this (note: brackets are implied words/meanings) "fight those that do not believe in Allah, and those that do not believe in the afterlife, and those that do not forbid that which Allah and his Prophet forbid; And those whose religion is not the religion of truth/righteousness (separately) from those that have the Book (the people of the book) until they give jizya willingly and feel subdued".
If you go for the correct translation, what it shows is that God/Allah says that a muslim must treat the Jews/Christians (people of the book) seperate from the non-believers. where as a war may occur between muslims and non muslims and the nonbeliever may end up being 'kicked out' of the country (completely) during the war, a Muslim should not attack/'evict' a Jew/Christian from the islamic country but only ask for jizya (as long as the Jew/Christian does not attack the muslim). i.e. God tells Muslims to treat the people of the book with more respect.
