YES. This happened to me a few weeks ago in a BIG way. I was so shocked....and saddened. :)

yes i happens a lot and the sad part is it will continue to happen, and we build friendships on trust and respect and all that can change with one indiscretion ,sad but true.

I don't know if you've ever experienced it but some bigots think that just because you're white that you're a bigot too. They will be talking and then the word nigger comes out of their mouth like it's nothing. Like you should accept it because you're white. This has happened to me a few times and I let them know they can't talk that way around me and twice have told them to get out of my car.

Definitely, it was a sad day when I saw their true colors.

Sure. One example was the Lakers "Showtime" teams of the 1980s. Strictly as a basketball fan, I thought of the Lakers as the Bringers of Purity and Light, while the hated Boston Celtics were soulless and evil. As time went by, the off-court behavior of several of those Lakers (Magic's womanizing leading to HIV, Worthy arrested for soliciting hookers, Byron Scott accused of domestic abuse, etc.) was disillusioning. In contrast, most of the Celtics led pretty much squeaky-clean lives (other than Robert Parish's use of marijuana). I still prefer the Lakers as a basketball team, but I'd want any daughter of mine to marry one of those Celtics.
