  • Consider this. Prison 30 days $1000 drug treatment 30 days $15,000 . Prison: real punishment rehab: free to go outside, smoke, use phone as much as they like, outside of therapy they can do what they want to do. No real punishment. Over 90% of the drug rehab participants use within a day of getting home. You decide.
  • neither, we shouldn't waste tax dollars on degenerates. We should tax the hell out of them once all drugs are legalized.
  • If it's simple possession for use drug treatment, no matter how many offenses. If it's possession for sales or if there are other crimes linked to their use then jail or prison.
  • If drug offender=trafficker, then they Should be sent to a treatment facility, just to see what they have done, and who they are working for....
  • I think rehab should be an option though it would be problematic. If an addict does not have the desire to change, they would likely not be successful in rehab. If given the choice, rehab would probably be chosen more often than not for an "easier ride". Ideally, rehabilitation programs would be introduced into prisons (programs already in place improved upon). Even if they had minimal impact, any rehabilitation that takes place in prison is in everyone's best interest.
